Wisconsin Native Jesika von Rabbit Returns to Open for Eagles of Death Metal

Wisconsin Native Jesika von Rabbit returns to her home state to open for Eagles of Death Metal.

Jesika_twoheadedcat

Jesika von Rabbit returns to her old stomping ground to perform Varsity Theater in Minneapolis on September 9 and her home-state to perform at High-Noon Saloon in Madison on September 10

Dubbed “California’s ultimate postmodern, intergalactic pop provocateur “ by the LA Weekly, and voted Best Front Woman of Coachella Valley at the 2015 Coachella Valley Weekly Music Awards, Jesika von Rabbit grew up in Green Bay and moved to Minneapolis after high school to persue her musical career and shortly after moved to Los Angeles to continue her career path. She then found her home in the hi-desert town of Joshua Tree, CA. where she met Todd Rutherford and formed the band Gram Rabbit.

Momentum grew quickly landing Gram Rabbit a slot on the main stage of the Coachella Music and Art Festival while Gram Rabbit’s fan base grew steadily as they honed their live chops playing or touring with the likes of Le Tigre, Maximo Park, the Raveonettes, Satellite Party, Kinky, Ima Robot, West Indian Girl, Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, The Handsome Family, The Lovemakers, Electrolane, The 88, John Doe, The English Beat, and many more.

The group produced six albums and and received numerous TV and film licenses. NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CW, FX, BRAVO, STARZ, and MTV have all used the band’s music in shows and movies such as CSI, Life, the Real World, Sons of Anarchy, Crash, Hit & Miss, Crazy Stupid Love and War Inc., just to name a few. Gram Rabbit also landed a commercial spot for Fruit of the Loom that aired during the 2012 Summer Olympics. Their unique hybrid of psychedelic rock and electro-pop redefined and modernized the old-school labels of retro and synth-pop.

Armed with a stockpile of songs celebrating von Rabbit’s love of electronics she has created and released her first solo album, a playful, poppy, and psychedelic ‘adult theme park-pop’ experience titled Journey Mitchell which she is supporting with an entertaining stage show featuring her entourage of ‘prairie gangsters’.

Jesika von Rabbit, will be supporting Eagles of Death Metal on the Midwest / East Coast leg of their 2015 worldwide tour. von Rabbit will be performing songs from her recently released Journey Mitchell album, released on CD and digital by Rabbit’s own Royal Order label and on vinyl by Dionysus Records.

Prior to the Eagles of Death Metal dates, von Rabbit will grace her local desert following with two shows, including the Campout 11 fest with Cracker and Camper van Beethoven at her home base, Pappy and Harriet’s.

Sep 25 2015 – Iron City – Birmingham, AL

von Rabbit will re-unite with Gram Rabbit in October for four shows with Eagles of Death Metal before playing their annual two-night Halloween ball at Pappy & Harriet’s.

After trailblazing high-desert rock as the front woman in her band Gram Rabbit, Jesika now steps out on her own with a solo project, Journey Mitchell. Part pop princess parody, part desert gypsy, Jesika takes us on a strange trip. Journey Mitchell, is laden with new wave influenced synths, keyboard melodics and infectious dance beats. But make no mistake, this is not a collection of pop songs that induce a brief sugar high; Jesika von Rabbit wants to penetrate and disturb you. The undercurrent of Gothic industrial baselines, ghostly echoes and Jesika’s hallowing voice, leaves resin in your system that will bewitch you long after the music fades.–Coachella Magazine

Joshua Tree’s Jesika von Rabbit has released her new LP, “Journey Mitchell” on iTunes. The album will also be available on vinyl (including a vinyl only bonus track) as a co-release on Dionysus Records and von Rabbit’s own Royal Order label, early summer, exclusively at live shows, until its’ official street date of 7/14 via ILD Distribution when the album ships to retail.

The lead singer, keyboardist, and songwriter of Gram Rabbit’s first solo outing is a playful, poppy, and psychedelic “sextronic” experience, and includes the track “Psychic Spice” which is the subject of von Rabbit’s first video off the new album. The video, directed by Jessica Janos, starts with von Rabbit auditioning to be a new Spice Girl and unravels into a cornucopia of outrageous imagery featuring a warehouse of weirdos which von Rabbit refers to as her “prairie gangsters”.

After trailblazing high-desert rock as the front woman in her band Gram Rabbit, Jesika now steps out on her own with solo project, “Journey Mitchell.” Her album, music video, and stage show debut this month, with release parties in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Part pop princess parody, part desert gypsy, Jesika takes us on a strange trip. “Journey Mitchell,” is laden with New Wave influenced synths, keyboard melodics and infectious dance beats. Celebrate the release of Journey Mitchell, von Rabbit’s electronic “adult theme park pop” solo debut. CDs will be available for purchase at the shows – a vinyl LP version of the album is in the works and will be released later this year.

Jesika von Rabbit is perhaps California’s penultimate post-modern inter-galactic pop provocateur. First thrust upon this unsuspecting world as co-founder of groundbreaking freakno rock oddballs Gram Rabbit, the buxotic blonde vixen became such an inescapable force in her Joshua Tree-adjacent headquarters that she even has her own menu item (Nachos Von Rabbit) available at cosmic desert honky tonk Pappy & Harriet’s. Now operating as her own free agent, the Von Rabbit solo assault comes in the form a characteristically sizzling celestial psych-disco sound –while the kinetic stage presentation is one significantly enhanced by a writhing trio of terpsichoreans. Put over with equal measures of artful expression and droll entertainment, after you flip, trip and slip down this rabbit hole, you’ll never want to come back. – LA Weekly

The album includes the track “Psychic Spice” which is the subject of must-watch video directed by Jessica Janos featuring a cornucopia of outrageous imagery starring a warehouse of weirdoes which von Rabbit refers to as her “prairie gangsters.”

Have a listen to her electro -lounge version of The Dickies’ “You Drive Me Ape (You Big Gorilla)” here (to be a bonus vinyl track)
