Jim Blanchard is a graphic artist, illustrator, and former zine publisher. He was born in Houston, Texas in 1965. He received his bachelor of fine arts degree during the mid-1980’s at the University of Oklahoma, during which he also published the fairly influential ’80s art and music zine Blatch. Since moving to Seattle, WA in 1988, he has designed band posters, record and CD covers, done magazine illustrations, inked Peter Bagge’s Hate comic series, and served as art director for Fantagraphics Books. He’s one of the more infamous “low-brow culture” artists of the last two decades (Source: Zine Wiki)
Blanchard will have a selection of original drawings and paintings, as well as posters and prints on the walls of the La Luz De Jesus Gallery, and will be signing copies of the Visual Abuse book from 8-10PM on Friday, October 7th, and then again on Saturday, October 8th from 4-7 PM. There will be original and limited reproduction fliers, as well as an assortment of original gig posters available for sale and signing.
